CEDA - Community Education Abroad

Have you ever dreamed of spending your summer vacation in a foreign country? Do you enjoy helping others?

Community Education Abroad (CEDA) offer week long teaching trips to Cambodia, where small, selected groups of young adults will be supported to teach within local primary schools. The experience benefits visiting students by giving them real-world teaching and community development experience and benefits the local students and school community via exposure to new teachers.

Applying is easy!

Step 1: Complete the student application form, teacher application form or chaperone application form. Sit tight – we’ll get back to you within a week.

Step 2: Once accepted, we’ll send you two Referee forms (Students applications only), a Medical Release, a Code of Conduct, and a Welcome Pack.

Step 3: Pay the trip fee at the latest 45 days before your trip and book your flights. Send us a copy of your itinerary so we can arrange airport transfers.

Responsible projects

We are dedicated to ensuring that our projects are responsibly run and have sustainable positive impacts that are supporting local students and school communities.

New friendships

Within the teaching program you will meet other like-minded teenagers from around the world and interact with friendly program support staff and local Cambodian students.

Rewarding Experience

These programs are designed to make the most of your short time abroad while contributing to your community service credit requirements or college.

Superior support

Your experienced CEDA program leader, along with our local team in Cambodia will ensure you feel supported every step of the way – from expert training, to planning lessons and within your teaching experience.

Exploring new cultures

You will have the opportunity to explore and understand local Khmer culture through teaching within a community school and through engaging with a range of arranged activities, such as Khmer cooking classes!

Global Citizenship and Intercultural Skills

By immersing yourself in unfamiliar practices and customs, students will be better equipped to identify and interact with people from other countries and backgrounds.

Safety First

The safety of our program participants is a top priority for CEDA and we have clear standards for risk management of our program. You will be placed with schools and staff who have undergone strict screening processes. All trips are fully insured with a global insurer, and include medical evacuation benefits.

THE PROGRAM

Alternative Summer Break program

One each Alternative Summer Break program, you will work alongside other participants at a local Cambodian primary school, delivering lessons to children aged between 5 to 10 years old. Your program will be specifically designed to be taught by young adults by our expert local and international staff.

You will be coached by a program leader – a qualified teacher from an International school – who will be there to support you throughout the week. The structure ensures that you can make a difference – in as little as a week! In addition, you will have the benefit of experiencing the local culture first-hand.

What will you be doing?

Each project follows a schedule of taught sessions, hands-on and observational work, as well as evening activities and excursions. As a student teacher, you will provide engaging and fun lessons to Khmer students, in a student-centric, activity based style. You may have the opportunity to also join a Khmer cooking class, take a river cruise or experience local culture by eating at a local restaurant.
